It is estimated 70% – 90% of justice involved people are now eligible for health insurance

The majority of justice involved people will be eligible for Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid Program).

Whether someone is eligible for Health First Colorado is based on income and family size. Family size is based on the number of people claimed as dependents on income taxes, not necessarily the number of people who live in a household.

Pregnant women may be eligible for health care coverage if earning more than listed above. Children may be eligible for health care coverage if a parent (or their caretaker) earns more than listed above.

If someone is denied Health First Colorado because they make too much money, they may be able to receive financial help to buy private health insurance through Connect for Health Colorado. ** Private insurance may pay for inpatient or outpatient services received while someone is in jail pretrial as long as the person continues to pay premiums and receives treatment in-network.
